Four people were killed and nearly 900,000 homes lost power in severe thunderstorms that hit the eastern Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Local authorities confirmed this.
Ontario police said on Twitter that three people were killed and another injured in the severe summer storm. A man died when a tree fell in the trailer where he was staying.
A 70-year-old woman was also hit by a tree while walking as the storm raged. In Ottawa, another person died in the storm, but local police gave no further details.
The fourth victim was a fifty year old woman. He was drowned in a storm when his boat capsized on the Ottawa River, which separates Ottawa from Quebec.
