Arsenal: Extend Mohamed Elneny's contract

The Egypt midfielder has struggled to find playing time under Mikel Arteta. But ever since Thomas Partey suffered an injury in the 0-3 loss to Crysal Palace, Elneny has suddenly been relied on on a regular basis. Against Chelsea, the 29-year-old proved that he could be relied on with the London Cannon, which won 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.

This appearance continued until the match against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium which ended in a 3-1 victory for the Gunners. Mohamed Elneny's contract is set to expire next summer, but Ian Wright has urged Cannon London to renew him soon, as he could be key in the hunt for the top four.

"We're talking about a player who does his job for their manager with incredible professionalism," Wright told the Ringer FC Podcast. "Elneny might leave at the end of the season and you could see his performance against Chelsea and you think that if Arsenal are planning to build a team that gets into the top four then you need a back-up.

"He has to be kept. For him to play in those two games, which are arguably the most important in Arsenal's fixture list, it's a big game. And he's had his first game since December (2 -2021) playing at that level. You have to respect that. "
