OnlyFans, this application is often known as an "adult platform"

The arrest of content creator Dea OnlyFans related to the alleged pornography case has recently been highlighted. Dea is suspected of selling photos and videos of adult content on the OnlyFans platform. Previously, Dea had admitted that he could earn USD 5 per subscriber from every content he uploaded on OnlyFans. So, what exactly is OnlyFans which is now often considered an "adult" application? Is the content uploaded to OnlyFans only adult content? Initially, OnlyFans was created as a social media platform that allows content creators to upload content and get paid directly from their followers aka "fans". This application was founded by Timothy Stokely in 2016.

Through this platform, fans can pay directly to their favorite content creators. For example, fitness influencers can upload videos of their workouts on OnlyFans and their fans can tip them live. According to OnlyFans, content creators who have 10,000 followers can earn between USD 499 to USD 2,495 per month. However, the platform will take a 20 percent cut from tips fans give to content creators.
However, OnlyFans' slightly looser content policy allows content creators to freely share photos of themselves. The "vulgar" photos and videos also don't violate OnlyFans' content policy, so the app is often known as an "adult platform". Many sex workers use the platform to make money. In 2019, the New York Times even claimed OnlyFans had "changed sex work forever".

When many people became unemployed at the start of the pandemic in 2020, the platform reported an increase in new registrations of more than 75 percent. OnlyFans even told Forbes that they get around 150,000 new users every 24 hours. The popularity of OnlyFans even made pop diva Beyonce Knowles reference the app in her lyrics. Beyonce alluded to OnlyFans in her duet with Megan Thee Stallion, "Savage Remix". "Hips tick-tock when I dance.

On that Demon Time, she might start an OnlyFans," the lyric sung by Beyonce. Notified by Beyonce, OnlyFans immediately invited any artist to join their platform. "Beyonce, and any artist, are welcome to join OnlyFans at any time to foster a deeper connection with their fans," OnlyFans told Rolling Stone.
