15 nuclear units in Ukraine

"After the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, it will take years to investigate the damage they did to the Chernobyl land. What burials of radioactive material have been damaged. And how radioactive dust spreads across the planet. There are currently 15 nuclear units in Ukraine, all of them are threatened by Russian military aggression". This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking before the Japanese parliament, quoted by the UNIAN Agency.

The president noted that everyone knows what Chernobyl is: "A nuclear power plant in Ukraine, where in 1986 a powerful explosion occurred, the emission of radiation whose effects have been recorded in different parts of the world. The 30-kilometer zone around the Chernobyl station is still closed, it's dangerous. Thousands of tons of contaminated material are buried in the forest that fills even that closed zone. Carcasses, cars, just on the ground," Zelensky explained. And he stressed that on February 24, a Russian armored vehicle crossed the region, removing radioactive dust in the air. “Imagine the nuclear power plant where the disaster occurred, the protection of the destroyed reactor, the functioning nuclear waste storage facility. Russia has turned this plant into an arena of war,” Zelensky said, noting that Russia uses a closed zone near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant to preparing a new attack on the Ukrainian defense forces.
